“Click here” is one of the most enduring terms used online, and has been around from the start. In fact, searching for “click here” on Google brings in an incredible 1.3 billion results, demonstrating how ubiquitous the term has become. It’s the second-nature anchor text choice for a lot of web developers and search copywriters, although moving away from it is so easy - and beneficial.
While “click here” still has great relevance in email marketing for obvious reasons, you’re missing an ideal SEO opportunity if you continue to use it indiscriminately on websites. From both a user accessibility and search engine indexing perspective, the term isn’t exactly the most helpful. Thinking about the search engines, if an anchor text and tag uses some of the keywords relating to the page that it’s linking to, then it’s far easier to classify - boosting the relevancy to a given topic. What’s more, your real-world users will know instantly what they’re clicking on, so you’re enhancing their visit as well. “Click here” doesn’t offer any information whatsoever, other than the presence of a link.
It’s another example that usability and creating a positive web experience should always be at the forefront of your web development and copywriting.
So, try to come out of the “click here” safe zone and you’ll soon find that SEO benefits will follow.

It’s a rare industry that has remained unscathed throughout 2008, and there’s now a real need to evolve your promotional approach to meet with the changing day-to-day demands of the market. The first thing to consider is the be-all and end-all of your marketing - the customer. Ask yourself - do you know your customer as well as you think?
Avoid guessing what your customers are looking for, as even missing the mark slightly here will cost time and money. It is always worth doing a little research every so often to find out exactly how you should be marketing your product, and it becomes even more important during turbulent times like these. You’re likely to be surprised at how willing people are to give you the information you’re looking for, and a questionnaire on your website or a quick email flyer could be all that’s needed. Everyone’s got an opinion, and most people like the opportunity to express theirs.
It’s hardly in-depth socio-demographic analytics, but you will find out some information that is new to you - something that could help you avoid wasting your marketing budget at a time when it needs to be more effective than ever.

We’re proud to announce the launch of Cranio - a custom-made jewellery website with a twisted soul. The ominous dark design, driven by the powerful white-on-black skull logo, is the perfect showcase for Cranio’s brilliant product portfolio.

Skull rings, classic horror style rings and ancient Egypt influenced jewellery, everything on Cranio comes from original designs, painstakingly hand-crafted in the finest materials. In truth, Cranio’s rings are less like jewellery and more like individual works of art. Take a look at the Cranio website to see for yourself.

We’ve been busy revamping the Greenmedia homesite recently, and it’s now rapidly approaching launch.
The current site is coming up to three years old, which in today’s web environment makes it something of a heritage piece. In that time, web technologies have moved on apace and we’ve worked on various new presentation effects that simply weren’t possible earlier. We’ve put some of these into the new website, along with examples of our best new client work, creating what we believe to be a perfect demonstration of our services.
As ever though, the Greenmedia website isn’t about bells and whistles, ‘awards’ or other such acts of shameless braggadocio. It’s about what we do and why we do it. It’s a showcase. It doesn’t need over-explanation because it speaks for itself. We think you’ll like it.

We’re happy to announce the launch of two new websites today - the Beamish Wild Ropes Activity Centre and Birds of Prey Conservation Centre.
Based in the grounds of County Durham’s Beamish Hall, the two exciting new visitor attractions are officially opening this summer. The Ropes Activity Centre features a thrilling high-ropes course, zipline and power-fan, while the Birds of Prey Conservation Centre provides an engaging insight into Britain’s raptors with its resident collection of eagles, owls and falcons.
Both websites, designed and built in-house here at Greenmedia, look appropriately vibrant and contain some exciting features. We’re looking forward to seeing both websites and the centres develop over the coming weeks and months.

We launched the Tuscany Restaurant website at the end of February, and were pleased to find some great search engine rankings already. The website is appearing as the first non-directory result on the first page of Google.com for the search “italian restaurant whitley bay”, and the first page of Google.co.uk for “tuscany restaurant” - great results considering the relevance of the keyterms, level of competition and the fact that the site has been live for less than two weeks.
Achieving results on Google can be a time-consuming process, and often depends on a massive number of variable factors. However, as Tuscany’s immediate results show, when a website has a clear topic, good coding standards and relevant copy, the process can be rapidly speeded up.

This month sees a redesign of one of Greenmedia’s best performing client websites, Northeast Audi.
We originally created the site as a bespoke web platform for the four Audi Approved dealerships in the region, giving staff the chance to update stock lists on a daily basis and customers a centralised website for all their Audi requirements. The site has been a huge success over the two years in which it has been running, due in no small part to the flexibility of content management, ease of use and supporting online marketing campaigns we’ve carried out.
We’re currently finalising a new look version of the site, designed in-house, which will be live online soon. The site is a stunning update that will refresh Northeast Audi into 2008 and beyond.
